Abstract
In sheet metal fabrication, a wide variety of materials are commonly used, the choice depending on factors such as the specific function of the product, the operating environment, and cost. The following are some common sheet metal materials:
Cold-rolled steel (SPCC): Steel sheet made through a cold-rolling process, possessing stable thickness and good processing properties, but relatively susceptible to rust.
Hot-rolled steel (SHCC): Suitable for situations requiring thicker sheets, typically 3mm or more, but prone to rust due to inferior surface quality compared to cold-rolled steel.
Galvanized steel (SECC): Using cold-rolled steel coils as a base material, it undergoes electroplating, resulting in excellent corrosion resistance and a decorative appearance.
Stainless steel: Such as SUS301 and SUS304, possessing good corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and machinability, widely used in kitchenware, medical devices, and construction.
Aluminum and aluminum alloys: Such as A5052, aluminum is a light metal with low density and good tensile strength, suitable for applications where weight reduction is needed.
Copper and copper alloys: Due to their excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, they are often used in the electronics and electrical appliance industry.
Spring steel: Medium carbon steel containing manganese, chromium, and silicon, possessing high elasticity and toughness, suitable for making springs or other parts requiring elastic properties.
SD steel plate: A sheet metal with excellent rust and corrosion resistance. For example, this material is used in the mounting brackets of outdoor air conditioning units.
Other materials: This also includes lightweight structural materials such as magnesium alloys, which have high strength and good fatigue resistance, but may not be as corrosion-resistant as other materials.
Each material has its specific application scenarios and advantages, therefore, the most suitable material should be selected according to product needs in practical applications.
