Galvanized steel sheet (SECC or SGCC):
- SECC (electrogalvanized steel sheet): Made from cold-rolled steel coils as a base material, after degreasing, pickling, electroplating, and various post-processing processes, it has good corrosion resistance and decorative appearance.
- SGCC (hot-dip galvanized steel sheet): After cleaning and annealing, the hot-rolled pickled or cold-rolled semi-finished product is immersed in a zinc bath to plate a zinc layer, and then it is tempered, leveled, and chemically treated. This material is harder than SECC, but has poorer ductility, a thicker zinc layer, and poorer weldability.
Stainless steel (such as SUS304): Stainless steel is widely used in demanding applications due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high-temperature resistance, and aesthetics. It does not rust like ordinary steel, making it suitable for electrical distribution equipment that needs to be exposed outdoors or in harsh environments for extended periods.
Aluminum and aluminum alloy sheets: Aluminum materials are suitable for making lightweight distribution boxes or applications where weight reduction is needed due to their light weight, high strength, good processing properties, and corrosion resistance. Common types include pure aluminum sheets and alloy aluminum sheets.
Copper materials: Although less commonly used in the outer shells of electrical distribution equipment, copper materials are often used for internal electrical connectors or components with specific requirements due to their excellent electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.
The choice of material depends on the specific application scenario, cost considerations, and requirements for corrosion resistance, strength, and other properties. For example, in outdoor distribution boxes requiring good weather resistance, galvanized steel sheets or stainless steel may be preferred; while in applications emphasizing weight and portability, aluminum materials may be used more often.
