Abstract
- Preparation before operation
- Personnel qualifications: The operators must be trained professionals who are familiar with the operation of XL type low-voltage power distribution cabinets. They need to understand the basic principles of the distribution cabinet, the functions and operating methods of electrical components, and hold the corresponding electrician operation certificates.
- Check equipment status: Before operation, an external inspection of the distribution cabinet should be conducted. Check if the cabinet body is damaged or deformed, and whether the cabinet door can open and close properly. At the same time, check if various instruments on the dashboard (such as voltmeters, ammeters, etc.) are intact and if the pointers return to zero.
- Check environmental conditions: Ensure that the environment where the distribution cabinet is located meets the requirements. The ambient temperature should generally be between -5℃ and 40℃, and relative humidity should not exceed 90% (at a temperature of 25℃). Additionally, ensure that there is not excessive dust, corrosive gases, or flammable and explosive materials nearby to prevent damage to the distribution cabinet or safety accidents.
- Tool preparation: Operators need to prepare necessary tools such as insulated gloves, insulated shoes, voltage testers, and operating handles. Insulated gloves and shoes should be regularly tested for insulation performance to ensure good insulation; voltage testers should be checked for normal operation, and operating handles should match the operating mechanisms of electrical components inside the distribution cabinet.
- Normal operating procedures
- Power-on operation
- : First, confirm that all circuit breakers are in the off position, meaning the operating handle is in the 'OFF' position. Then close the main power switch of the distribution cabinet; at this point, you can observe the voltmeter to check if the power supply voltage is normal. If the voltage is normal, sequentially close each branch circuit breaker from the power side to the load side. After closing each circuit breaker, observe the corresponding ammeter to check if the current is normal and ensure there are no overload or short circuit phenomena.
- : For example, when supplying power to a workshop's power equipment, first close the main circuit breaker. After confirming that the voltage shows a normal 380V, then sequentially close the branch circuit breakers for machine tools, ventilation equipment, etc., while observing branch ammeters to ensure that current remains within rated limits.
- Power-off operation
- : In contrast to power-on operations, power-off operations should be performed in order from load side to power side. First disconnect each branch circuit breaker by turning the operating handle to 'OFF', stopping power supply to each branch device. Then disconnect the main power switch and close the distribution cabinet door. During power-off operations, it is also important to observe changes in instrument indications.
- : For instance, when maintenance is needed for equipment in a workshop, first disconnect branch circuit breakers for machine tools and other devices before disconnecting the main circuit breaker to ensure that all equipment is completely powered off before maintenance work begins.
- Equipment control operations
- : To start or stop a specific power device (such as a motor), operate through the corresponding contactor in the distribution cabinet. For directly started motors, press the start button to energize the contactor coil; this closes the contactor's main contacts and powers on the motor to start it. When needing to stop the motor, press the stop button; this de-energizes the contactor coil, opens its main contacts, and stops motor operation.
- : For example, when controlling a ventilation motor in a workshop, press the start button and observe how it starts up for any abnormal sounds or whether it operates normally; when pressing stop button, ensure that it stops smoothly.
- Power-on operation
- Emergency situation operations
- Short circuit or overload situation: When a short circuit or overload occurs within a distribution cabinet, circuit breakers will automatically trip. At this point, do not immediately reset; first check for fault causes. This can be done by observing whether fuses have blown, checking for obvious burn marks on wires, measuring insulation resistance of equipment etc., to identify faults. Only after troubleshooting can you reset.
- Fire or other emergency situations: If a fire or other emergency occurs around the distribution cabinet, immediately cut off main power supply first. Use nearby dry powder fire extinguishers to extinguish fires while promptly notifying fire departments. During emergency handling processes, operators must pay attention to their own safety to avoid electric shock or other injuries.
- Post-operation checks and records
- Equipment status check: After completing operations—whether powering on, powering off or controlling equipment—recheck electrical component status within the distribution cabinet. Check if circuit breakers are correctly positioned, if contactor contacts are normal and if instrument indications are reasonable.
- Record operational conditions: Detailed records should be kept regarding operation times, contents and names of operators among other information. These records are crucial for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and safety management. For example, record times for each power-on and power-off event as well as any abnormal situations during operations for subsequent analysis of equipment operational conditions.
