Abstract
Fixed panel switchgear is a common type of low-voltage power distribution equipment, whose main functions are as follows:
1. Basic Power Distribution and Energy Allocation
The core function of fixed panel switchgear is to centrally install switches, measuring instruments, and protective devices. It controls the on/off status of circuits through manual or automatic switches to achieve power distribution. It is suitable for scenarios with lower requirements for power supply continuity and reliability, such as centralized power supply in the substations of small industrial and mining enterprises.
2. Protection and Structural Features
Semi-enclosed design: The front of the cabinet is equipped with a protective panel to prevent personnel from accidentally touching live parts, but the back and sides may still be exposed, and the overall protection level is low (usually IP20).
Simple and reliable: It adopts a welded or assembled steel plate structure, with internal components fixedly installed and no complex movable parts, resulting in high long-term operational stability.
3. Applicable Scenarios and Economy
Low-cost solution: Due to its simple structure and no need for drawer-type modular design, its manufacturing cost and maintenance cost are low, suitable for projects with limited budgets.
Renovation of old systems: It is often used for upgrading old power distribution systems or meeting the initial power distribution needs of small facilities (such as rural power grids and low-load workshops).
4. Limitations
Inconvenient maintenance: It requires a complete power outage during maintenance and lacks the hot-swappable function of drawer-type cabinets, which may affect power supply continuity.
Poor scalability: The circuit configuration is fixed, making it difficult to adjust flexibly according to needs. It is not suitable for places that require frequent capacity expansion or functional changes.
Fixed panel switchgear is the "basic model" of power distribution systems. It is practical in scenarios with low protection requirements and cost sensitivity. However, due to its insufficient protection and flexibility, it is gradually being replaced by enclosed or drawer-type switchgear. If higher reliability or intelligent management is required, a protective or drawer-type solution is recommended.
