I. Core Advantages
High Reliability and Safety
Using high-grade insulating materials (such as epoxy resin) and a welded frame structure, the main circuit hard-wired connection method has low contact resistance, and the short-circuit current carrying capacity can reach more than 50kA, and it can still operate stably under extreme loads.
The protection level is generally IP30-IP40. The front protective panel of the cabinet can prevent accidental contact with live parts. Some improved models (such as fixed-partition type) achieve functional unit isolation through partitions, and faults are not easily spread.
Outstanding Economy
The manufacturing cost is 30%-50% lower than that of the drawer type, because it does not require precise guides, connectors, and other modular components, and the maintenance cost is lower (no connector oxidation maintenance is required).
Suitable for scenarios with limited budgets or stable loads (such as rural power grids, small industrial and mining enterprises), the whole life cycle cost advantage is significant.
Excellent Heat Dissipation Performance
Open or semi-enclosed structure design (such as the upper and lower heat dissipation slots of GGD), heat dissipation through natural ventilation, suitable for long-term operation in high-temperature, high-load environments.
Environmental Protection and Material Innovation
The new generation of products uses recyclable materials (such as environmentally friendly steel plates) and low-toxicity insulating media, which meet international standards such as RoHS. Some models reduce energy consumption by optimizing the heat dissipation system.


II. Main Disadvantages
Inconvenient Maintenance
Inspection requires a complete power outage, and the hot-swappable function of the drawer type cannot be achieved. The power outage affects a large area, which is especially unfriendly to continuous production scenarios.
Long fault repair time (average more than 4 hours), modification requires rewiring, and poor flexibility.
Limitations of Expandability and Intelligence
The circuit configuration is fixed and cannot be adjusted flexibly (for example, GGD cabinet units cannot be arbitrarily combined). Expansion requires replacing the entire set of equipment.
The integration cost of intelligent modules (such as remote monitoring and fault diagnosis) is high, and the popularity of high-end functions is lower than that of drawer-type cabinets.
Volume and Space Occupancy
Under the same capacity, the cabinet depth is shallower (such as GGD is 600mm), but the vertical space utilization rate is low, and the installation density is only 50%-70% of the drawer type. Large-capacity schemes require multiple cabinets in parallel.
Pressure for Technological Upgrades
Insufficient competitiveness in the high-end market, lagging application of internationally advanced intelligent and lightweight technologies (such as microprocessor sensing systems), and dependence on imported core components.

Fixed switchgear is the "basic model" of the power distribution system, suitable for scenarios that are sensitive to cost and have fixed configurations, but there are obvious shortcomings in terms of intelligence and flexibility. When selecting, it is necessary to balance the initial investment and long-term maintenance needs. If the budget allows, improved fixed-partition or hybrid cabinet types can be prioritized.
