Abstract
The protection level of charging piles is mainly defined by the IP (Ingress Protection) rating standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and its specific requirements are as follows:
Outdoor Charging Piles
Basic Requirements: The industry generally recognizes that the protection level of outdoor charging facilities should at least reach IP54, which means it can prevent solid foreign objects larger than 1mm in diameter from entering the equipment, and can prevent water splashing from any direction from damaging the equipment.
Higher Requirements: Some charging piles have a protection level of IP55, which can prevent dust accumulation and protect against low-pressure water jets; some charging piles have a protection level of IP65, which can completely prevent dust from entering and prevent water splashing.
Indoor Charging Piles
The protection level of charging facilities installed indoors should not be lower than IP32, which means it can prevent solid foreign objects larger than 2.5mm in diameter from entering and prevent vertically dripping water.
Charging Piles for Special Environments
For charging piles installed in harsh conditions such as heavy rain or sandstorms, it is recommended to choose an IP67 or higher protection level. The IP67 protection level indicates that the equipment can completely prevent dust from entering and can be immersed in water at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes without damage.
The protection level of AC charging piles in special places such as airports should not be lower than IP65.
