Abstract
In power systems, low-voltage switchgear plays a crucial role as key power distribution equipment. With technological advancements and changing market demands, low-voltage switchgear models are constantly evolving and improving. This article will detail the advantages and disadvantages of the five major low-voltage switchgear models: GGD, GCK, GCS, MNS, and MCS, helping readers better understand and select the power distribution equipment that best suits their needs.
I. GGD Type AC Low-Voltage Switchgear
GGD type AC low-voltage switchgear is widely used in substations, power plants, and industrial enterprises. Its design follows the principles of safety, economy, rationality, and reliability, featuring high breaking capacity, good dynamic and thermal stability, flexible electrical schemes, and convenient combination. The GGD cabinet adopts a general-purpose cabinet form, with a frame assembled by partially welding 8MF cold-bent steel, featuring 20 mounting holes and a high general-purpose coefficient. In addition, the GGD cabinet fully considers heat dissipation; heat dissipation slots are provided at the top and bottom of the cabinet to form a natural ventilation path, ensuring stable operation of the equipment.
However, GGD type low-voltage switchgear also has some drawbacks. Due to its fixed structure, the number of outgoing circuits is relatively small, and the floor space is relatively large. At the same time, the units of the GGD cabinet cannot be arbitrarily combined, and it cannot communicate with the computer, which limits its application range to some extent.
II. GCK Low-Voltage Withdrawable Switchgear
GCK low-voltage withdrawable switchgear consists of a power distribution center (PC) cabinet and a motor control center (MCC), suitable for AC 50 (60) Hz power distribution systems with a rated operating voltage of less than or equal to 660V. GCK switchgear has high breaking capacity, good dynamic and thermal stability, advanced and reasonable structure, and flexible electrical schemes. It adopts a modular combination structure, with modular hole installation, high universality of components, good applicability, and a high degree of standardization.
Although GCK switchgear has many advantages, its horizontal busbars are located at the top of the cabinet, and the vertical busbars do not have flame-retardant plastic functional boards, which affects its safety performance to some extent. In addition, GCK switchgear cannot communicate with the computer, which limits its application in places with a high degree of automation.
III. GCS Type Low-Voltage Withdrawable Switchgear
GCS type low-voltage withdrawable switchgear is widely used in power plants, petroleum, chemical, and metallurgical industries, with high breaking and closing capacities, good dynamic and thermal stability, flexible electrical schemes, and convenient combination. Its frame uses 8MF open-type steel, and mounting holes with modules of E=20mm and 100mm are installed on the main frame, making the frame assembly flexible and convenient. At the same time, the various functional compartments of the GCS switchgear are isolated from each other, enhancing the safety performance of the equipment.
However, GCS switchgear can only be used as a single-sided operating cabinet, with a cabinet depth of 800mm, which limits its operational convenience to some extent. In addition, although GCS switchgear has high technical performance indicators, its cost is relatively high, which may pose a certain economic pressure on users with limited budgets.
IV. MNS Type Low-Voltage Withdrawable Switchgear Assembly
MNS type low-voltage withdrawable switchgear assembly is a high-end low-voltage switchgear developed by referring to and improving the design of foreign MNS series low-voltage switchgear. Its frame is a modular structure, and the basic frame is assembled from C-shaped steel, with high strength and precision. The internal dimensions, component dimensions, and compartment dimensions of the MNS switchgear are all based on modularization (E=25mm), making assembly flexible and versatile. At the same time, the MNS switchgear has the advantages of compact design and accommodating more functional units in a smaller space, meeting various incoming and outgoing line scheme requirements.
Although MNS switchgear has many advantages, its cost is relatively high, which may pose a certain economic pressure on small and medium-sized users. In addition, the installation and maintenance of MNS switchgear require certain professional skills and knowledge, which also increases its difficulty of use to some extent.
V. MCS Intelligent Low-Voltage Withdrawable Switchgear
MCS intelligent low-voltage withdrawable switchgear is a high-end product developed by integrating the advantages of other low-voltage products. It is suitable for power plants, petrochemical, and metallurgical industries, with high breaking capacity, good dynamic and thermal stability, and flexible electrical schemes. The basic frame of the MCS switchgear is assembled from C-type (or 8MF type) open-type steel, with a unified appearance, high precision, and good drawer interchangeability. At the same time, the MCS switchgear can reserve automation interfaces to realize the "three remote" functions of remote signaling, remote measurement, and remote control, as well as control equipment.
