Abstract

In low-voltage power distribution systems, the incoming cabinet, outgoing cabinet, and capacitor cabinet form a core combination that ensures stable and efficient power supply. Each plays its role, working together to maintain the safety and efficiency of the power system. This article will delve into the working principles, functions, and important roles of these three components in low-voltage power distribution systems, revealing how they work together to become the "golden triangle" of low-voltage power distribution systems.

Incoming Cabinet: The "Energy Entrance" of the Power System

As a key link for introducing external power, the incoming cabinet is responsible for introducing high-voltage power and distributing it to the busbars. Its core components include vacuum circuit breakers, isolating switches, current transformers, lightning arresters, live indicators, and voltage transformers. These components together form a precise "power gatekeeper," strictly controlling every aspect of power access.

The vacuum circuit breaker is like the "heart" of the incoming cabinet, with short-circuit and overcurrent protection functions. When the circuit experiences short circuits, overcurrents, or other faults, it can quickly cut off the power to prevent the fault from expanding and protect the entire system's safety. The isolating switch plays a key role during maintenance, isolating the incoming cabinet from the live parts to provide a safe working environment for maintenance personnel. Current transformers and voltage transformers are used to monitor current and voltage values in real-time, providing data support for subsequent protection, metering, and monitoring. The lightning arrester acts like a "lightning protector," diverting the overvoltage generated by lightning strikes to the ground during thunderstorms to prevent equipment damage. The live indicator visually displays whether the incoming cabinet is energized, reminding operators to pay attention to safety.

The working principle of the incoming cabinet is not complicated; it mainly introduces the electrical energy from the external grid into the internal power system. When the external power source is connected to the incoming cabinet, it first passes through the isolating switch. When the isolating switch is closed, the electrical energy can pass through smoothly. Then, the current passes through the vacuum circuit breaker, which can perform closing and opening operations based on the system's operating status and protection signals. During normal operation, the vacuum circuit breaker remains closed to ensure a continuous power supply.

Outgoing Cabinet: The "Intelligent Hub" of Power Distribution

Located next to the incoming cabinet or busbar, the outgoing cabinet is the "command center" in the power distribution network. Its core components mainly include circuit breakers, current transformers, isolating switches, knife switches, and live display devices. It is the "transit station" for power from the busbar to various power-consuming branches.

The working principle of the outgoing cabinet is to distribute the power from the busbar to various power-consuming branches. When the busbar is energized, operators can close the circuit breaker of the corresponding outgoing circuit as needed to deliver power to the power-consuming equipment. During normal operation, the outgoing cabinet monitors the outgoing current in real-time through the current transformer. When the current exceeds the set value, the protection device will send a signal, and the circuit breaker will automatically trip, cutting off the faulty circuit to prevent the accident from expanding. At the same time, the outgoing cabinet also has metering functions. Through the current transformer and energy meter, it can accurately measure the power consumption of each outgoing circuit, providing a basis for electricity billing and power management.

Outgoing cabinets are widely used in almost all power consumption locations. In residential communities, outgoing cabinets distribute power to each household, ensuring daily electricity use for residents. In factories, outgoing cabinets provide power to various production equipment, ensuring smooth production. In hospitals, schools, and other public places, the stable operation of outgoing cabinets is crucial; it is related to people's lives and normal teaching order.

Capacitor Cabinet: The "Energy Efficiency Optimizer" for Reactive Power Compensation

The capacitor cabinet focuses on reactive power compensation in the power system and is a key device for improving the power factor and reducing line losses. Its core components mainly include capacitors, reactors, contactors, lightning arresters, discharge devices, instruments, and control devices.

In power systems, many power-consuming devices, such as motors and transformers, are inductive loads. During operation, they consume a large amount of reactive power, leading to a lower power factor. A low power factor increases line losses, reduces equipment utilization, and affects the stability of the power system. The capacitor cabinet provides capacitive reactive power to the power system by using capacitor banks to compensate for the reactive power consumed by inductive loads, thereby improving the power factor, reducing line losses, improving equipment utilization, and improving the power system's operating performance.

The working principle of the capacitor cabinet is to utilize the capacitive characteristics of the capacitor. When the capacitor is connected in parallel to the power system, its current will offset part of the inductive current, reducing the total current and the phase difference between voltage and current, thereby improving the power factor. By observing the power factor meter, when the power factor reaches or approaches 1, it indicates that the capacitor cabinet is working normally and the reactive power compensation effect is good.

The incoming cabinet, outgoing cabinet, and capacitor cabinet together form the "golden triangle" of low-voltage power distribution systems. They each perform their duties, working together to maintain the safety and efficiency of the power system. The incoming cabinet, as the "energy entrance," ensures the stable introduction of external power; the outgoing cabinet, as the "intelligent hub," precisely distributes power to various power-consuming branches; and the capacitor cabinet, as the "energy efficiency optimizer," improves the power factor and reduces line losses through reactive power compensation. The close cooperation of the three ensures that the low-voltage power distribution system can operate efficiently and stably, providing reliable power for people's daily lives and industrial production.
