Abstract
- Preparation work
- Personnel preparation: The operators must be professionally trained electricians with relevant qualifications. They should be familiar with the structure, functions of electrical components, and operating procedures of the XL type low-voltage power distribution cabinet, and strictly adhere to safety operating regulations.
- Tool preparation: Safety tools such as insulated gloves, insulated shoes, and voltage testers should be prepared. Insulated gloves and shoes must be intact and have good insulation performance, and the voltage tester should work properly to accurately determine whether the equipment is live.
- Environmental inspection: Confirm that the operating environment is safe, checking for hazards such as standing water, flammable materials, or explosive substances around the distribution cabinet. If any are found, they should be cleared or protective measures taken to avoid accidents during power outage operations.
- Operation sequence
- Start from the load side: The power outage operation should strictly follow the sequence from the load side to the power source side. First, disconnect the circuit breakers of each branch by switching their handles to the 'OFF' position. This can prevent adverse effects on equipment and the power grid caused by sudden loss of power on the load side during the outage process. For example, in a factory workshop's power distribution cabinet, first disconnect the circuit breakers for various machine tools and ventilation equipment.
- Disconnect the main power switch: After all branch circuit breakers are disconnected, then disconnect the main power switch of the distribution cabinet. This step must be done cautiously because once the main power switch is cut off, the entire distribution cabinet will lose its power supply. When operating the main switch, pay attention to the voltage meter's indication to confirm that the voltage has dropped to zero, ensuring that the power supply has been completely cut off.
- Key points to note during operation
- Observe instrument indications: During the power outage operation, closely observe changes in indications on instruments such as voltage meters and ammeters on the distribution cabinet. When disconnecting branch circuit breakers, check whether the branch current meter reading drops to zero; this helps determine whether that branch is truly powered off. Also, pay attention to the voltage meter reading to ensure that voltage remains stable without abnormal fluctuations during operation.
- Pay attention to operating force and position: When operating circuit breakers and other electrical components, ensure that the operating handle is fully turned to the 'OFF' position to avoid leaving equipment in a live state due to improper operation. However, also be cautious about applying too much force to avoid damaging the operational mechanism of electrical components.
- Prevent arc injuries: When disconnecting a live circuit (such as a running equipment branch), arcs may occur. Operators should maintain an appropriate distance to prevent arc burns. It is generally recommended to keep at least a distance of 30 - 50 centimeters between exposed parts of the face and body and the operating area.
- Post-operation inspection and recording
- Equipment status inspection: After completing the power outage operation, check the status of electrical components inside the distribution cabinet. Verify whether the circuit breaker’s open/close status is correct, whether contactor contacts have opened, and whether protective elements like thermal relays have reset. Also check for any signs of looseness or burning in wiring inside the distribution cabinet.
- Record operational conditions: Detailed records should be kept of the time of power outage operations, names of operators, and content of operations (including numbers of disconnected branch circuit breakers and main power switches). These records are very important for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety management. For example, recording whether a power outage was for equipment maintenance or due to grid failure helps analyze subsequent equipment operation conditions.
