Abstract
Box-type substationThe busbars are enclosed with insulating materials. According to regulations, when the height of uninsulated bare conductors above the ground exceeds 2.3m, protective devices of at least IP2X level should be installed. The height of box-type substations generally does not exceed 2.5m. In addition, the equipment inside the box-type substation is installed compactly and densely, with a small distance between the remaining operating and protection passages, requiring the use of fully enclosed busbars.
The exposed live wires of high and low voltage distribution equipment in box-type substations should take protective measures. There are many panels and cabinets inside the distribution equipment compartment of the box-type substation, and many sides and backs of these panels and cabinets are open. When there is a possibility of personnel participating in protection and operation, protective devices should be installed; otherwise, due to the small space inside the box, there are safety hazards that can easily lead to safety accidents. Compared to the connection routes between these cabinets, the layout direction of the routes should be equipped with corresponding protection to prevent safety accidents caused by damage, especially during the replacement of some long-lasting boxes, which can easily cause electric shock burns and equipment accidents during operational inspections.
Some substations have boxes made of steel plates and aluminum alloy plates that are fireproof. However, the filling material between steel plates and aluminum alloy plates often uses insulation materials with poor or no flame retardant effects, failing to achieve fire resistance. The filling of box-type substations should use fiberglass, asbestos, or synthetic materials, but synthetic materials must undergo flame retardant testing according to IS01210:1990 Method A and must meet requirements; otherwise, it is not possible.
The box of the box-type substation must be carefully sealed inside and out. According to regulations, it is a first-level fire protection zone that should be fire-resistant and strictly sealed and isolated.
