Abstract

The cable branch box is a type of cable engineering equipment that has been widely used in distribution network systems in recent years. Its main features include bi-directional doors and the use of wall sleeves as busbar connections. It has obvious advantages such as short length, clear wiring, and no need for large-span three-core cable interconnections. The selected cable connector complies with DIN47636, and a 630A bolt-rated fixed splicing cable joint is generally used.

The cable joints of the cable branch box use a special insertion type, which has high reliability, saves space, and is easy to install. It basically eliminates the maximum failure point of the cable—the cable head failure—thereby improving the reliability of power supply. In addition, the transformers connected at the end of each branch line are also protected, so there is no issue of branch cable overload. According to user requirements, the cable branch box can be equipped with a main switch for maintenance of the branch box and general protection of the branch lines.

The selection of the cable branch box is more important. The air-insulated type is mainly made of heat-shrinkable materials; this product is an old product that has been phased out. The protective branch box made of rubber sheath is prone to end cracking during long-term use, which limits its development. There are many types of branch boxes, including European-style branch boxes, American-style branch boxes, and branch boxes with switches.

Due to its fully insulated and sealed characteristics, the cable branch box greatly reduces the line failure rate and becomes a selectable option for distribution network wiring projects.The equipment is simple, convenient, and flexible to connect and combine, allowing it to replace ring network cabinets in certain situations. It can be buried underground or submerged in water when necessary, saving investment in equipment and cables while improving power supply reliability. It is widely used in commercial centers, industrial parks, and densely populated urban areas.
