Abstract

The selection of switches and electrical appliances in lighting distribution boxes and switch boxes should first ensure reliable power disconnection under normal and fault conditions. In the case of leakage, it should quickly disconnect the leaking device from the power source. There should be a clear power-off switch during maintenance. When selecting electrical appliances for lighting distribution boxes and switch boxes, the following principles should be noted.

1. The switches and electrical appliances in the lighting distribution box must be qualified products. Whether using new appliances or continuing to use old ones, they must be complete, undamaged, reliable in operation, and have good insulation.

2. The cabinet must be equipped with switches and electrical appliances that can cut off and isolate the power supply under any circumstances. Manual isolation switches are usually used as switching circuits under no-load conditions, while automatic switches, contactors, etc., are used to connect and disconnect circuits under normal load and fault conditions.

3. The switches and electrical appliances in the lighting distribution box correspond one-to-one with the distribution lines, set up in branches to ensure dedicated control for dedicated paths. The rated values and action setting values of the main switch appliances and branch switch appliances should be compatible to ensure graded action in case of faults.

4. A "one machine, one switch" system should be implemented between the switch box and electrical equipment to prevent misoperation caused by "one machine, multiple switches." The rated values of the switching devices in the cabinet should be compatible with the rated capacity of the electrical equipment.

5. Leakage protectors should be installed inside the cabinet, with their rated leakage action current and leakage action time being safe and reliable. The rated leakage action current is generally less than or equal to 30mA, and the rated leakage action time is less than 0.1s, with reasonable graded coordination.

6. Manual switch appliances are only allowed for small-capacity electrical equipment (below 5.5kw) and lighting circuits. For large-capacity power circuits, especially motor circuits, manual switches have slower on/off speeds, which can easily cause strong electric arcs that may injure people or damage equipment; therefore, automatic switches or contactors should be used for control.
